FAQ

Everything you need to know as a oneCORE user.

What is metadata?

Metadata in oneCORE is used differently depending on where it is. On pages, products, blogs and categories it's mainly used for SEO tags. On editions it acts as an identifier for retrieving external prices. Metadata (JSON) on an Account page is used to fetch data from external tools or systems.

What's the difference between a shipping class and a shipping method?

They sound alike, but they do different things. A shipping class sets the processing time and cost a product or edition needs before it is ready to ship. A shipping method is a delivery option customers choose at checkout, so they can pick the one that suits them best.

What's the difference between a company and an organization?

If you work with several projects in oneCORE, you'll come across both terms, and they don't mean the same thing. An organization is the whole environment: all projects in the same database. A company is one project inside that organization. So “at company level” means the data applies only to that project, not to the other projects in the organization.

What are product editions and master editions?

oneCORE is built for configurable products, where different parts of a product can be customized. Product editions are the variations of a product, such as size, color or material. Master editions group them one level higher: product editions linked to the same master edition share its stock and settings, which makes setting them up and managing them much simpler.

What are product configuration rules?

Rules that control how product editions can be combined. They set conditions that prevent invalid or unsupported configurations. For example, a rule can block certain materials from being paired with certain colors when that combination can't be produced.

What's the difference between categories and catalogs?

Categories group products for the live website: they show your product structure to visitors, and a product can be in several categories. Catalogs are for setting things up in the back end: products in the same catalog can share settings such as editions and configuration rules, and a product can be in only one catalog.
